Inter Capital Fibre Build
RCE was engaged to deliver a full turnkey telecommunications network build for AARNet, a leading telco carrier. The 47km network, spanning from Albion Park to Bomaderry in NSW, traversed residential and rural landscapes and was delivered through a combination of excavation, trenching, ploughing, and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) techniques.

The project was delivered over a 12-month period from December 2019 to December 2020, overcoming challenges including unseasonal weather events, bushfires, and access constraints. RCE’s expertise in delivering complex telecommunications infrastructure, combined with our collaborative stakeholder engagement and adaptable delivery approach, ensured successful project outcomes in a challenging environment.
Dark Fibre Rollout
RCE was engaged to design and construct a 30km dark fibre network for FibreconX, connecting multiple data centres across Sydney Metro. The project involved excavation, trenching, and horizontal directional drilling (HDD), including approvals and construction through Western Sydney Parklands and private properties.

RCE successfully completed a series of complex bores under major freeways, rivers, and canals, drawing on our in-house expertise to independently manage the design, risk assessment, and delivery of these critical works. Our team navigated challenging ground conditions and sensitive environments, ensuring minimal disruption while maintaining precision and safety throughout.
Dark Fibre Network
RCE was engaged to deliver over 130km of Dark Fibre network infrastructure for Xenith IG, connecting key suburbs across Sydney from the CBD to Southwestern Sydney. This critical network forms part of Sydney’s expanding dark fibre backbone, supporting the city’s increasing demand for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity.

RCE managed the full turnkey delivery, including conceptual design, permitting, civil construction, fibre hauling, splicing, testing, and commissioning. Works involved a combination of horizontal directional drilling (HDD), open cut trenching, and chain trenching to navigate a diverse mix of residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
T3 Power Station
RCE was engaged by Snowy Hydro to design and construct new underground 11kV reticulation and fibre optic cabling to replace bushfire-damaged overhead infrastructure.

The project involved extensive trenching, underboring, and associated civil works to enable the installation of new 11kV distribution mains and fibre optic cables, connecting TransGrid’s Upper Tumut Switching Station to the T3 Intake Structure.
RCE’s expertise in complex boring, challenging ground conditions, and high-voltage infrastructure ensured the successful delivery of this critical network, providing Snowy Hydro with a more resilient, future-proof underground solution.

Projects
Our projects demonstrate our capability to deliver complex telecommunications, civil, and fibre infrastructure solutions across Australia.

From large-scale dark fibre networks and data centre connectivity to high-voltage infrastructure and regional fibre builds, we specialise in end-to-end, turnkey delivery.

Our portfolio spans metropolitan, regional, and remote environments, where we consistently deliver high-performance outcomes through horizontal directional drilling (HDD), trenching, and advanced construction methodologies.

Each project reflects our commitment to safety, precision, stakeholder collaboration, and minimal disruption, even in highly constrained or sensitive environments. We partner with leading carriers, government agencies, and infrastructure providers to design and construct networks that are scalable, resilient, and future-ready, supporting Australia’s growing demand for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity.

Innovation in action.

Working collaboratively with our partners ensures works progress safely and accurately — even in the face of challenging site constraints such as river crossings. Tracking drill alignment from the water is one example of how the team adapts to maintain precision on site. This kind of thinking, coordination and adaptability is fundamental to how we operate.
